Need to know more about Blair Hornstine?May 6th, 2008
When Blair looks at the world through the eyes of others, she “walks a mile” in their shoes. In that process, Blair’s own view of the world becomes broader, more accurate, more complete, and more inclusive. Blair learned much more about herself by taking the time and energy to learn about others. Blair Hornstine organized a new club at her school and named it M.A.G.I.C., which stands for Moorestown Alliance for Goodwill and Interest in the Community. The club’s goals include community service to address the needs of the elderly, disabled and financially unfortunate. Once organized locally, Blair searched for a worthy cause consistent with M.A.G.I.C.’s goals. Approximately fifteen miles from her school lies Camden, New Jersey. Camden is currently ranked as the “most distressed” municipality in New Jersey by the Office of State Planning.
Blair Hornstine personally raised over $10,000 in grants, donations and material for projects. Many students, faculty, parents and local Camden residents were involved, who supplied both skilled and unskilled support. The financial and personal support to this worthy cause helped foster the spirit of goodwill in “neighbor helping neighbor”.
